MixFairFace: Towards Ultimate Fairness via MixFair Adapter in Face Recognition
Although significant progress has been made in face recognition, demographic
bias still exists in face recognition systems. For instance, it usually happens
that the face recognition performance for a certain demographic group is lower
than the others. In this paper, we propose MixFairFace framework to improve the
fairness in face recognition models. First of all, we argue that the commonly
used attribute-based fairness metric is not appropriate for face recognition. A
face recognition system can only be considered fair while every person has a
close performance. Hence, we propose a new evaluation protocol to fairly
evaluate the fairness performance of different approaches. Different from
previous approaches that require sensitive attribute labels such as race and
gender for reducing the demographic bias, we aim at addressing the identity
bias in face representation, i.e., the performance inconsistency between
different identities, without the need for sensitive attribute labels. To this
end, we propose MixFair Adapter to determine and reduce the identity bias of
training samples. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that our MixFairFace
approach achieves state-of-the-art fairness performance on all benchmark

Single nonmagnetic impurity resonance in FeSe-based 122-type superconductors as a probe for pairing symmetry
We study the effect of a single non-magnetic impurity in
AFeSe (A=K, Rb, or Cs) superconductors by considering
various pairing states based on a three-orbital model consistent with the
photoemission experiments. The local density of states on and near the impurity
site has been calculated by solving the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations
self-consistently. The impurity-induced in-gap bound states are found only for
attractive impurity scattering potential, as in the cases of doping of Co or
Ni, which is characterized by the strong particle-hole asymmetry, in the
nodeless wave pairing state. This property may be used to probe
the pairing symmetry of FeSe-based 122-type superconductors.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figure
Epididymis rhabdomyoma: A case report and literature review
Genital rhabdomyoma is very rare tumor that usually occurs in the vulvar of young women. Epididymis rhabdomyoma in a young man is extremely uncommon and has rarely been reported. Here, we report a case of epididymis rhabdomyoma of a 17-year-old man and review the literatures. Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with decreased serum levels of high density lipoprotein, but not with the severity of coronary atherosclerosis
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Objective</p> <p>The objective of this survey was to study the association between <it>Helicobacter pylori </it>infection and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The study population consisted of 961 consecutive patients (711 males and 250 females) who underwent coronary angiography for suspected or known coronary atherosclerosis. The patients' body mass index, blood pressure, the blood lipid, blood glucose, leukocyte count (10<sup>9</sup>/L), neutrophil count (10<sup>9</sup>/L), and Helicobacter <it>pylori</it>-specific IgG antibodies were performed. Coronary angiograms were scored according to vessel score and Gensini's score.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A significant association between <it>H. pylori </it>infection and coronary atherosclerosis as well as its severity was not find in this cross section study (<it>p </it>= 0.858). And, the level distribution of vessel score (<it>p </it>= 0.906) and Gensini's score (<it>p </it>= 0.905) were similar in the seropositivity group and seronegativity group of Helicobacter <it>pylori </it>infection. However, the level of fasting high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (mmol/L) (<it>p </it>= 0.013) was significantly lower in the seropositivity group than that in the seronegativity group of Helicobacter <it>pylori </it>infection.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>In conclusion, in the present study, a significantly correlation between Helicobacter <it>pylori </it>seropositivity and angiographically evaluated severity of atherosclerosis was not find. And, the present study showed a good correlation between Helicobacter <it>pylori </it>infection and decreased HDL cholesterol. However, the exact mechanisms need further study.</p
